Amplifying Strength, Sexual Health, and Solidarity

WHAI Ontario (Women & HIV/AIDS Initiative) supports the health and wellbeing of women living with or at risk of HIV through education, advocacy, community partnerships, and culturally grounded programming.

For the 2026 Love Positive Women campaign, I created a suite of illustrations and icons that formed the visual foundation of the campaign. Working closely with the art director, I developed expressive artwork inspired by WHAI's activist history, blending strength with femininity to highlight sex positivity, reproductive health, and the resilience of African, Caribbean, and Black women.

Using textured illustrations, overprinted layers, and culturally resonant colour palettes, the artwork was designed to support both WHAI's brand identity and the communities it serves. The final campaign assets and social media posts were art directed and assembled by the WHAI team, with my illustrations providing the core visual language throughout the campaign.

Textured Layers, Powerful Metaphors

Lyrical, block-print style illustrations have been created with a texture ideal for layering, in order to create the printed effect at the centre of the campaign. By placing two illustrations one on top of the other at varying transparencies, the artwork gains depth, and we are able to combine different symbols for more powerful metaphors.

“I love working with Fyonna because the collaboration is so seamless and easy. She asks smart, clear questions up front, delivers both on time and to an incredibly high quality, and is able to apply feedback and revisions quickly and without any ego!”
